Osiris Lights – Kill Me Slow

Kill Me Slow” is the new track by Osiris Lights, an outstanding Australian quintet. It’s their first piece of work in 2024, acting as an adequate follow-up of “Conduit,” their exceptional six-track extended play release published last year. However, this particular composition showcases many innovations in writing, composing, arranging, and producing, as the band leans a much heavier sonic side. As the first installment of the “Triptych,” a three-track extended play slated for release in October this year, Osiris Lights dives into an expansive sonic universe composed of many different and complementary music genres. Perhaps modern alternative rock comes to mind first, but you’ll hear how some incredible genres like post-grunge, grunge, prog-rock, and hard rock found their way into this fine piece of artistry. These experimentations with various elements allow them to float between modern and nostalgic ambiance without sacrificing the initial sonic direction. “Kill Me Slow” vividly showcases their songwriting and composing abilities, as these skilled musicians emit many brilliant ideas and impressive musicianship from beginning to end.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice these folks are not joking around with their music. “Kill Me Slow” arrives with a perfect structure, garnered with many intricate segments and mindblowing orchestrations. The band poured heart and soul, and their effort is vividly hearable during every moment. With initial notes and beats, Osiris Lights invites you on an epic voyage where the powerful low-ends complement intricate rhythmic, paving the way for a spectacular vocal and guitar performance. Speaking of the vocals, the outstanding performance commands attention and guides your listening apparatus. The fascinating vocal range seamlessly balances low, mid, and high notes while emphasizing all the segments and instrumentations. The guitar interplay shines bright during the choruses, as the rhythm and lead guitars fight for dominance. You’ll notice many accentuations during the calm, soothing, relaxing verses while the colossal slabs of well-articulated noise punch during the choruses. It’s nearly mindblowing how the vocals match these riffs harmoniously. The band thought about even the tiniest details and nuances, ensuring that the even pickiest listeners will enjoy this magnificent sonic journey.

As mentioned before, the bass guitar and drums play a significant role here. You’ll hear how equally complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines roar, offering more than necessary heaviness, depth, and clarity while simultaneously blending guitars with drums. The excellent drummer keeps everything in line while dictating groove and pace with cleverly arranged beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics. Osiris Lights left no stone unturned while writing, composing, arranging, and producing their latest single, and “Kill Me Slow” unquestionably demonstrates what you might expect from their upcoming EP release. You should put Osiris Light on your radar because their creativity and talent shine here. Their ideas and musicianship go beyond comprehension during each moment, and they paid so much attention to every detail, ensuring this track will appeal to even the pickiest listeners.
