My Satellite – Denial

Denial” is the latest track by My Satellite, an outstanding Los Angeles-based duo. It’s their third single in 2024, arriving as an adequate follow-up to”Sing Your Sorrow” and “Minotaur,” two marvelous numbers released earlier this year. Soundwise, My Satellite combines the fundamentals of indie music with some of the finest properties borrowed from other complementary music genres. Perhaps indie pop and indie rock shine the most, but you’ll hear how psych, synth, alt-pop, and soft rock found their way into this sonic equation. Their experimentation with all these additional styles resulted in a masterful showcase of their experience, knowledge, skills, and talent. It’s also good to mention that they used all these additional elements as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details to uplift their latest single on an entirely new level while simultaneously remaining loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, “Denial” will appeal to anyone looking for expertly performed and profoundly detailed indie music.

My Satellite are not joking around with its music, and you’ll notice that as soon as you press play. They paid so much attention while writing, composing, arranging, recording, and producing these numbers, so a pleasant listening experience is more than guaranteed. “Denial” arrives with a perfect song structure, garnered with so many detailed segments and intricate instrumentations, but it’s an easy-listening song that immediately gets into your ears and refuses to let go even after it finishes. You’ll immediately notice how marvelous vocal harmonies serve as a centerpiece, emphasizing all the mentioned segments and instrumentations. The perfect balance between low, mid, and high notes decorates every sonic and rhythmic maneuver while simultaneously commanding attention and guiding the listener from scratch to finish. In the meantime, the nearly funky chord progressions, harmonies, melodies, themes, and leads delivered on guitars serve as a perfect backdrop. The interplay between rhythm and lead guitars pervades from all possible sides, while calm, soothing, relaxing, ethereal keyboards and synth lurk around, adding more complexity to the mix.

Also, this number wouldn’t sound this powerful without a rock-solid, precise rhythm section. You’ll hear how equally complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding low-ends roar beneath all the mentioned instrumentations, offering more than necessary heaviness, depth, and clarity while also acting as a glue between guitars, synths, and drums. The profoundly detailed rhythmic sequences based upon moderate, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics dictate groove and tempo while keeping everything in line at the same time. My Satellite poured heart and soul into “Denial,” resulting in an indie pop masterpiece that will stay on your playlist for a very long time. The way these experienced musicians assembled and combined everything goes beyond comprehension, proving this genre can still surprise even die-hard fans. Of course, “Denial” will appeal to your listening apparatus even if you’re not into this particular genre due to the many elements involved along the way. You should check out My Satellite and their new song as soon as possible because it’s one of the best pieces the indie music scene has to offer right now. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
