The Project – All I Ever Needed

Californian outlet The Project returns with another excellent piece of work that will unquestionably appeal to all the true hard rock fans. Arriving as the seventh track in the row, “All I Ever Needed” is a perfect follow-up to all the previous numbers delivered by James Davis, known for being a guitarist for the early noughties hard rock group Shameless. It’s one of those songs fully packed with everything you ever needed from rock music. James Davis is unquestionably an experienced musician whose knowledge about all things rock goes beyond comprehension, and he’s not hesitant to show off all his ability by writing, composing, arranging, recording, and producing tracks that will resonate with anyone even remotely into this music genre. But what makes “All I Ever Needed” special is how much rock subgenres this skilled artist stacked into this composition. His music spans across different eras. From seventies classic rock over dominant eighties hard rock to modern alternative and indie, “All I Ever Needed” contains everything you need to know about rock music. Of course, James Davis included some eighties glam rock/metal and subtle nineties alt-rock/grunge instrumentation, so this track hits you hard as soon as you press play.

James Davis always brings marvelous ideas and outstanding performance to the table. You’ll hear how everything sounds perfect, shining with precision and finesse. Like previous tracks, “All I Ever Needed” arrives with a perfect song structure, stacked with many segments and garnered with impressive orchestrations, so don’t be surprised if you stumble upon this song on radio charts or at the top of your favorite playlists. James Davis incorporated many excellent chord progressions, riffs, melodies, harmonies, themes, and leads, making “All I Ever Needed” such a pleasant listening experience that will appeal to even the pickiest hard rock fans. The interplay between rhythm and lead guitars keeps the listener’s attention, while the different playing techniques and approaches add a touch of complexity. All these guitar works perfectly match otherwordly vocal performance. The adequate balance between low, mid, and high notes decorates every segment and orchestration while simultaneously commanding attention and guiding the listener from scratch to finish. The cleverly assembled, audible low-ends are equally present in the mix, providing more power to the song, while the exceptional drumming dictates groove and tempo with well-accentuated, tastefully assembled, moderate rhythmic sequences. Davis proves once again that he’s not joking around with his music, as “All I Ever Needed” is probably one of his best tracks so far. He considered everything from energy and power to ambiance and melodics, and it’s nearly mindblowing how this song resonates with all these details at once. “All I Ever Needed” showcases everything The Project is about, and that’s bringing back all the finest qualities hard rock has to offer. You should check out this track immediately. It’s available on all streaming platforms.
