Suburban Bicycle Gang – Change

Suburban Bicycle Gang - Change

Change” is the latest single by Suburban Bicycle Gang, an excellent Canadian-based duo. It’s their second song this year, serving as an adequate follow-up to “The Council Of Rats,” a catchy indie rock composition you should also check out. Still, their latest single brings many innovations in writing, composing, arranging, recording, and producing. It signifies some vividly hearable shifts in sound and direction. Previously known as an indie rock band, Suburban Bicycle Gang announces a folk-rock era, decorated with many different but complementary genres/subgenres that unquestionably help them on this ear-appealing sonic journey. Don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some of the finest properties borrowed from classic rock, acoustic rock, psych rock, indie rock, and alt-folk, because they’re many included along the way. They use all these additional elements as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details to uplift “Change” on an entirely new level while simultaneously remaining loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, these experimentations with additional but complementary music genres resulted in a magnificent folk rock song that will appeal to even those pickiest die-hard fans.

Suburban Bicycle Gang

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice how this track commences with subtle, semi-distorted chord progressions, accompanied by well-accentuated, moderate beats. The duo gradually introduces more instrumentations and the song becomes slightly heavy. They thoroughly planned the entire structure, so you’ll notice how even these subtle instrumentations sound engaging and powerful, drawing your listening apparatus even deeper into their sonic universe. Each segment arrives with so many brilliant ideas distilled into these marvelous orchestrations. The interplay between acoustic and electric guitar sounds divine. You’ll notice how chord progressions shine on one side, while the other side delivers tastefully assembled leads, themes, melodies, and harmonies. The psychedelic and classic rock aspect of this number comes straight from these cleverly arranged instrumentations. It’s also good to mention that these guitar works serve as a perfect backdrop for all the vocal articulations. The experienced vocalist expertly balances low, mid, and high notes, emphasizing all the segments and instrumentations while commanding attention and guiding listeners simultaneously. In the meantime, the back vocals and singalongs help him out by adding a bit more complexity to every section.

Suburban Bicycle Gang also incorporated equally intricate, vividly hearable, warm-sounding low-ends. The bass guitar offers more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth while acting as a glue between the mentioned guitar layers and drums. You’ll also hear how these basslines become much more active, heavier, and raw during the pre-choruses and choruses. The remainder of the rhythm section relies upon subtle, moderate, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other drumming acrobatics. In the meantime, additional percussions give more sophistication to the mix. Suburban Bicycle Gang handles their improved sonic direction pretty well. There are touches of Americana, southern rock, and country included along the way, so “Change” will appeal to anyone who loves more traditional folk-rock sound. It’s one of those tracks that immediately gets into your ears and refuses to let go, proving that Suburban Bicycle Gang are experienced songwriters who know how to assemble catchy tunes that will resonate with the broader auditorium. It’s a must-listen for anyone, and you should check it out as soon as possible. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
