Modal Split – Feral Feeling

Feral Feeling” is the latest single by Modal Split, a Frankfurt-based independent songwriter and musician. It’s the first standalone single this year, serving as an adequate follow-up to “Ceremony” and “Somno,” two outstanding extended plays. Modal Split also released “Departure,” a collaboration song with synth virtuoso, musician, and producer Luke Tangerine. Soundwise, Modal Split explores all things pop by writing, composing, arranging, recording, and producing catchy pop tunes that will unquestionably resonate with the broader auditorium. The best part about this entire process is the way “Modal Split” embraces all the finest sonic ingredients from many pop subgenres. You’ll notice how commercial pop, K-pop, electro-pop, indie-pop, and other similar styles tastefully merge into a fine piece of sonic artistry. Also, do not be surprised if you stumble upon some dance and modern electronic music elements because there are many, and they work to the advantage of this song.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice the sound quality that meets all the modern trends in music production. Modal Split unleashes all the ideas and musicianship in such a distinctive manner that “Feral Feeling” will appeal to even those listeners unfamiliar with contemporary commercial pop music. The exceptional lead vocal performance is at the forefront, guiding listeners and emphasizing all the segments and instrumentations with such precision and finesse. The balance between low, mid, and high notes gives this composition a dosage of subtleness and complexity at the same time, making it such a pleasant listening experience. The synths play a major role in shaping such a rich and luxurious sonic landscape. You’ll hear how the perfectly distorted basslines serve as a leading force alongside the detailed, dynamic, well-accentuated rhythmic sequences. The rhythm section sounds majestic, offering more than necessary foundations for the remainder of the orchestrations.

On the surface, high-ends reign supreme with synth leads, themes, melodies, harmonies, and other tremendous sonic virtuosities supporting mentioned vocal articulations. The way vocals and synths work together is nearly mindblowing. Of course, there is a thick layer of cleverly arranged, vividly hearable, funky chord progressions, which add a bit more texture and intricacies to the mix. Like the remainder of high-ends, guitars give more than necessary support to the vocals, but they also decorate particular segments and give more detail to keep your listening apparatus focused on the track. Modal Split ensures everything’s well recorded and produced, so the marvelous listening experience is more than guaranteed. “Feral Feeling” is one of those numbers you should put on your radar if you’re interested in modern pop music. Modal Split invested some of the best ideas and excellent musicianship into it, so it shines with everything you ever needed from a pop song. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
