Harry Kappen – One Life

One Life” is the latest single by Harry Kappen, an Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter. It arrives as the perfect follow-up to the “Not All Of Us Agreed,” and “The Freedom Inside,” released throughout last year. Still, it delivers many innovations in songwriting, composing, arranging, recording, and producing. Unlike his previous songs, “One Life” brings a more moderate, half-time pace, enhanced with brilliant ideas and exceptional musicianship. Lyrically, the song explores the theme of global upheaval, mentioning conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, global warming, chaos, and confusion among people as some of the causes for disruption and absence of true love. With his latest composition, Harry Kappen explains how we all have one life and heart, so we should invest more of it in love and relationships. It’s a calm and delicate song that spreads positive thoughts, but it’s also a love ballad with some of the best vocal, sonic, and rhymic performances you’ll hear in a while.

“One Life” commences at a slow pace followed by the mesmerizing sonic landscape. Harry Kappen fully stacked this composition with some of the best instrumentations you’ll hear in a while. The magnificent guitar performance resonates at the forefront, offering many arpeggiated and regular chord progressions, harmonies, and melodies. This ambiance acts as a perfect backdrop for Kappen’s exceptional vocal performance, which ranges from low over mid to high notes, emphasizing all the segments and instrumentations. It’s nearly mindblowing how the guitars and vocals articulate harmoniously together, guiding the listener through every section and retaining the attention from scratch to finish. It’s also good to mention that Harry Kappen also incorporated marvelous leads and themes, which decorate particular segments of the song, while the catchy keyboard ambiances and melodies enhance the atmosphere on an entirely new level.

Of course, the artist thought about the rhythm section as well. You’ll notice how the equally complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines offer more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth while simultaneously binding the mentioned orchestrations with drums. The excellent drumming performance dictates groove and tempo with expertly performed, well-accentuated, half-time beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics. Every instrument plays a crucial role in this marvelous love ballad. Harry Kappen thoroughly planned the entire calm, soothing, relaxing, ethereal atmosphere by figuring out an adequate song structure that will showcase many segments decorated with exceptional instrumentations. “One Life” resonates with the best qualities of rock music, evoking late seventies, eighties, and nineties music while leaning toward modern sound. Harry Kappen invested all his experience, knowledge, skills, talent, and ideas into this song, and his efforts resulted in an astounding love ballad that will suit even the pickiest rock fans. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
