The Damn Devils – Heartstopper

The Damn Devils - Heartstopper

Heartstopper” is a new single by The Damn Devils, a New York-based rock trio. It’s their first single this year, serving as an adequate follow-up to their self-titled full-length album, released digitally in 2021. Their latest offering delivers many innovations in songwriting, composing, arranging, and producing. Soundwise, The Damn Devils embrace everything you dearly love about rock music. Perhaps alternative sound comes to mind first, but you’ll undoubtedly notice how some of the finest properties borrowed from grunge, southern rock, stoner rock, and hard rock found their way into this fine piece of sonic artistry. They use all these elements as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and details to uplift their music on an entirely new level, while the band remains loyal to the primary sonic direction from scratch to finish. Therefore, these experimentations with different but complementary music genres resulted in an excellent composition that will appeal to anyone into heavy, melodic, and raw alternative rock music.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice that these guys are not joking around. Their latest track carries some of the best ideas and instrumentations you’ll hear in a while. They thoroughly planned the entire song structure, so each carefully assembled segment arrives with catchy, addictive, hypnotic instrumentations. The guitars play a significant role in shaping such a luxurious ambiance. You’ll notice how the rhythm guitar delivers magnificent riffs and chord progressions with the occasional leads lurking around. Besides heaviness and rawness, the guitars also carry outstanding themes, melodies, and harmonies, which add more complexity to the ambiance. This interplay between rhythm and lead guitars serves as a perfect backdrop for an exceptional vocal performance. You’ll notice how the vocal harmonies emphasize all the segments and decorations by balancing between low, mid, and high notes. Also, it’s good to mention that these vocal maneuvers also guide the listener through each section, ensuring a tremendous listening experience.

Of course, The Damn Devils thought about the rhythm section too. You’ll notice how the equally intricate, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines roar right beneath guitar layers, offering more than necessary heaviness, depth, and clarity. These low-ends also serve as a binding element between the mentioned instrument and drums. The outstanding drumming performance based upon moderate, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics dictates groove and tempo while simultaneously keeping the remainder of the orchestrations in line. The symbiosis between a bass player and a drummer acts like a rock-solid foundation that makes this composition so enjoyable. Like their previous full-length effort, “Heartstopper” embraces all the vital elements of every rock subgenre you dearly love. These folks prove once again why they’re one of the best rock outfits on the contemporary scene, as their ideas and musicianship know no boundaries. “Heartstopper” deserves your utmost attention because it’s one of the best rock tracks you’ll hear this year. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
