The Sound Of Mountains – Heal My Rage

Heal My Rage” is the latest single by The Sound Of Mountains, a solo project by Christopher Morin. It’s the first single in 2024 and an adequate follow-up to “Familiar Locations” and “Stretch Out Your Hand,” two exceptional singles released last year. Like his previous works, “Heal My Rage” announces an upcoming full-length album consisting of nine marvelous numbers. Soundwise, this particular composition relies upon the fundamentals of post-rock music, but you’ll unquestionably notice how many different but complementary music genres found their way into this sonic equation. Don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some cinematic ambient, ambient rock, experimental rock, instrumental rock, and shoegaze elements lurking around because there are many included along the way. The Sound Of Mountains uses these additional elements as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details that undoubtedly uplift this number on an entirely new level, while the artist remains loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, these experimentations with different but complementary music genres resulted in a mesmerizing instrumental song that will appeal to even the pickiest post-rock fans.

As soon as you press play, you’ll immediately notice how The Sound Of Mountains wisely constructed every segment of the song. He thoroughly planned the entire song structure, so each segment comes with many impressive instrumentations bounded by the main theme, lurking around from scratch to finish. This theme consists of cleverly assembled arpeggiated chord progressions, decorated with generous dosages of reverb effect. However, unlike many post-rock artists, The Sound Of Mountains perfectly applied reverb, so this effect doesn’t overwhelm the remainder of the instrumentations. Of course, you’ll stumble upon leads, melodies, and harmonies delivered on the lead guitar, which make “Heal My Rage” even more ear-appealing and complex. These guitar dualities serve as a perfect backdrop that guides listeners from scratch to finish. Of course, The Sound Of Mountains thought about the rhythm section too. You’ll immediately notice how equally complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines offer more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth but also act as a binding element between guitars and drums. The outstanding drumming performance dictates groove and pace through moderate, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics.

The Sound Of Mountains performed all the instrumentations with so much precision and finesse, so “Heal My Rage” will be such a treat to all true post-rock fans. The song balances between emotive and ethereal themes on one side and heaviness, power, and complexity on the other. It’s a magnificent sonic journey worth exploring over and over again, thanks to all the experience, knowledge, skills, talent, ideas, and musicianship invested by The Sound Of Mountains. “Heal My Rage” is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
