Devon More – My Body Is.

My Body Is” is the latest single by Devon More, a Vancouver-based musician. It’s the first single in 2024 and an adequate follow-up to “Finally Yours,” “Songbird,” and “Beautiful Bitches,” three exceptional singles released last year. Lyrically, “My Body Is” celebrates the inherent magic of the body, emphasizing that every physical form is valuable, regardless of appearance or our fluctuating feelings towards it. Devon More conveys this important message by combining the fundamentals of alternative rock with some of the finest properties borrowed from indie rock, nineties rock, garage rock, and hard rock. Devon More uses these additional elements as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details that unquestionably uplift “My Body Is” on an entirely new level, while the artist remains loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, these experimentations with different rock subgenres resulted in a mesmerizing composition that will appeal to even the pickiest alternative rock fans and beyond.

Devon More – My Body Is.

As soon as you press play, you’ll immediately notice how Devon More conveys a message and emphasizes all the segments and instrumentations by balancing between low, mid, and high notes. These flawlessly performed vocal harmonies also guide the listener, keeping the attention from scratch to finish. The generously distorted, skillfully assembled riffs and funky accentuations serve as a perfect backdrop for the outstanding vocal performance, and it’s nearly mindblowing how More’s voice and all these sonic maneuvers match together. Of course, the equally complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines offer more than necessary heaviness, depth, and clarity, but serve as a binding element between guitars and drums. The bass guitar also contributes to the complexity, offering more than necessary low-end support. “My Body Is” wouldn’t sound this good without exceptional drumming performance based upon tastefully arranged beats, breaks, fills, and additional percussive acrobatics. Every instrument plays a significant role in shaping a rich and luxurious ambiance that immediately draws you in and refuses to let go.

“My Body Is” is more than just another alternative rock track. It’s a modern masterpiece that simultaneously resonates with some nostalgia. Besides incorporating all the vital elements of contemporary music, Devon More included many retro sonic and rhythmic maneuvers that will immediately throw you back into the nineties landscape. She thoroughly planned even the tiniest details and nuances, so you’ll notice how every segment arrives with many instrumentations that make “My Body Is” so addictive, hypnotic, and ear-appealing. It’s one of those tracks you should immediately put on your radar because Devon More poured all the experience, knowledge, skills, talent, and ideas into it, and her efforts resulted in a fine piece of sonic artistry worth repeating over and over again. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
