Repeat - You Would Know

Repeat – You Would Know

Repeat - You Would Know

You Would Know” is the latest track from Repeat, an energetic Swedish trio. It’s an adequate follow-up to “Repeat,” another exceptional single released in 2023, and a sneak peek into their self-titled full-length album, released on October 6th of the same year. Soundwise, these skillful Stockolm-based musicians combine several different but complementary music genres to illustrate such a rich and luxurious ambiance. Perhaps stoner rock comes to mind first due to the generous servings of distortion, but Repeat fully stacked “You Would Know” with some of the finest properties borrowed from music genres like hardcore punk, punk rock, grunge, garage rock, sludge, alternative, and indie rock. They use all these sonic ingredients as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details that unquestionably uplift this track on an entirely new level, while they simultaneously remain loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, these experimentations with different but complementary music genres resulted in a catchy, energetic, powerful composition that will appeal to even the pickiest listeners.

The guitars undoubtedly shine in the mix by providing more than the necessary backdrop for the outstanding vocal performance. You’ll immediately hear how generous servings of distortion offer that recognizable raw, abrasive, dirty, and fuzzy sound. Repeat not only rely upon these riffs, but they offer a cleverly constructed wall of sound, supported by the equally complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding low-end notes. These basslines provide more than necessary heaviness, depth, and clarity to the mix, but also act as a binding element between guitars and drums. This song wouldn’t sound this good without a flawlessly performed drumming performance that dictates groove and pace by delivering energetic, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics. The continuous splashing over the cymbals serves as another layer of delicate noise that adds more complexity to the overall sound. Besides the groove and pace, the drummer also keeps the remainder of the instrumentations in line. Of course, it would be such a shame not to mention outstanding vocal performance that skillfully balances low, mid, and high notes with cleverly constructed harmonies. The singer guides listeners through all the segments, making this track even more catchy, intricate, and easy-listening.

“You Would Know” offers a sneak peek into Repeat’s debut full-length, and they picked this number with more than a good reason. It has all the qualities of the aforementioned music genres, offering bits and pieces of what listeners might expect from the remainder of the album. It’s one of those numbers that immediately gets into your ears with all those catchy hooks that define some of the best alternative rock tracks. With a dirtiness borrowed from stoner, punk rock ferocity, and melodics borrowed from alternative rock music, “You Would Know” will immediately become your go-to track whenever you need exceptional modern rock music. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
