Plantoid – Dog’s Life

Dog’s Life is an impressive new single by Plantoid that serves as an enticing glimpse into their forthcoming album, set to be released next year through Bella Union. Hailing from Brighton, these skilled prog-rock musicians have crafted a distinct genre-defying song that draws inspiration from various music styles.

At first, the listener may be inclined to associate Plantoid with progressive rock, given the intricacy and complexity of their music. However, after delving deeper into Dog’s Life, it becomes apparent that the band has seamlessly integrated elements from multiple genres, creating a captivating sonic blend. Borrowing sonic ingredients from the 60s psychedelic rock, the 70s progressive rock, and the 80s and 90s post-rock, Plantoid demonstrate their ability to create a sound that transcends conventional categorizations. But the innovative fusion doesn’t stop there. Plantoid incorporate elements of art rock, math rock, indie rock, and jazz into the fabric. These additional layers serve as enhancements, elevating the composition to a whole new level while remaining loyal to the primary sonic direction.

One of the standout features of Dog’s Life are the mesmerizing vocal harmonies that take center stage throughout the song. The lead vocalist’s exceptional performance effortlessly navigates between low, mid, and high notes, emphasizing the vision that the rest of the band aims to achieve. The guitars, on the other hand, deliver mind-blowing virtuosities through intricate leads, ear-appealing harmonies, catchy chord progressions, and jaw-dropping riffs. The equally complex basslines provide depth and clarity while supporting these guitar maneuvers. Meanwhile, the impressive drumming keeps the band in sync with its unconventional time signatures, exceptional beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics.

Ultimately, Dog’s Life stands as a magnificent debut single, showcasing Plantoid’s creativity, talent, ideas, and musicianship. Their innovative approach to multiple complementary music genres demands your immediate attention. Once you experience this exceptional composition, it will undoubtedly become your go-to track whenever you crave masterfully crafted progressive rock. Keep an eye out for Plantoid’s debut album, as it promises to be a noteworthy release in the coming year. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
