Fueled by melodic hooks, driving guitars and the raw energy of ’90s and early 2000s punk rock, “Dumb Luck” captures the frustrating pull of a relationship that both people know has run its course—but neither can bring themselves to leave.
The band explains:
“‘Dumb Luck’ is about being in a relationship where both people know they shouldn’t be together and that they would probably be better off walking away. Still, they stay because, no matter how hard they try, they just can’t break free from each other.”
“Dumb Luck” follows the August release of “Ellen C.,” a bittersweet song about finding—and ultimately losing—that special person as life sends two people down separate paths. Together, the two singles offer an early glimpse of the emotional honesty, melodic urgency and hook-heavy punk rock that will define the band’s upcoming album.
Formed in Tacoma in 2019, Let Me Downs channel the energetic and melodic spirit of the punk scene that shaped them, drawing influence from bands including The Bouncing Souls, No Use For A Name, Green Day, Face To Face and MxPx.
The trio has released two full-length albums: the self-released Tacoma Is for Lovers in 2021 and North by Southwest, released through Felony Records in 2025. The band is currently working on its yet-to-be-titled third album, scheduled for release in 2027.
