Light Crush – Threshold 7″ (Sinking Ship Records)

Threshold by Light Crush is an impressive debut 7″ that showcases the band’s exceptional talent and skill. With their captivating songwriting, outstanding musicianship, and commitment to delivering high-quality music, they are the band that unquestionably demands your attention. Light Crush shines with sheer professionalism and attention to detail. The lead vocalist is undoubtedly the centerpiece of this material, delivering shouty, high-pitched vocals bursting with sincerity, confidence, and power on every track. His emotive and engaging performance adds depth and emotional connection to the songs. The lead guitar shines with impressive leads, themes, melodies, and harmonies that elevate these tracks to another level. It’s nearly mindblowing how every song benefits from these thoughtful and memorable guitar lines, which contribute to the overall catchiness of the record. Also, it’s good to mention that the rhythm guitar is equally impressive, providing a thick layer of well-crafted chord progressions and riffs that add depth and drive to the music. Together, the guitars create a sound that is both familiar and refreshing.

In addition to the guitars, the rhythm section plays a crucial role in shaping such a melodic but powerful sound. The delicate basslines and energetic drumming offer a solid foundation for the songs, providing the necessary groove, clarity, depth, and pace. Without the dynamic interplay between the bass and drums, the songs would lose much of their impact and distinctive sound. What sets Light Crush apart from their peers is their ability to craft cleverly assembled melodic punk rock songs that immediately grab the listener’s attention. Each of these three compositions on Threshold showcase the band’s knack for writing memorable hooks, infectious melodies, and relatable lyrics. The songs seamlessly blend some of the finest qualities borrowed from genres such as melodic punk rock, pop punk, and emo, resulting in a unique sound that feels nostalgic and fresh.

It is worth noting that debut recordings with this level of quality are exceptionally rare on today’s punk rock scene. Light Crush produced an EP that stands out from the crowd, demonstrating their dedication to their craft and commitment to delivering some of the best possible tracks you’ll hear nowadays. These songs come on swamp green and transparent beer 7″ vinyl, so head to Sinking Ship Records for more information about ordering this punk rock gem.
