You’ll immediately hear how shoegaze and dream pop match the alternative ambiance. These two genres are vividly hearable in the mix, and Marlene Larsen knows how to articulate them throughout the composition. Of course, Marlene’s exceptional vocal performance is a centerpiece of Galore, and her’s outstanding balance between low, mid, and high notes emphasizes all the orchestrations. Galore also carries calm, soothing, reverby, semi-distorted leads supported by nearly cathartic chord progressions. It’s mindblowing how these chord progressions transit in palm-muted riffs, and both segments perfectly match Larsen’s outstanding performance. The chorus introduces slightly heavier orchestrations supported by moderate, groovy beats and high-pitched singing parts. You’ll also notice how Galore becomes more cathartic and complex with every upcoming segment but somehow also remains as calm as possible. Marlene Larsen put a lot of time and ideas while assembling her debut single, and the effort paid off in a mesmerizing alternative rock composition that will unquestionably end up on your playlist. Galore is available on all streaming services.
