Davia Schendel – Poison/Antidote

After a couple of critically acclaimed extended-play releases like Take The Scenic Route / The Racecar Remix & B-Sides and Jaracanda Dust, and excellent standalone singles like Helena Lives In Her Mind, Racecar, Can You Hear Me, Equal and Dream Of 1998, New York City-based artist Davia Schendel returns with another exceptional composition that will unquestionably appeal to all the fans of mesmerizing post-punk music. However, Poison/Antidote is not just another ordinary post-punk number you stumble upon streaming services every day. Quite the contrary, Davia Schendel fully stacked her new composition with some of the finest properties borrowed from complementary music genres like funk, soul, jazz, disco, alt-pop, or art-rock, but don’t be surprised if you notice some other styles along the way. Davia Schendel thoroughly planned each sonic maneuver, and it’s nearly mindblowing how all these additional elements work together in shaping such a luxurious, detailed, ear-appealing ambiance packed with some of the best ideas you’ll hear on the post-punk rock scene nowadays.

Every segment includes Shendel’s exceptional synth, guitar, bass, and vocal performance, while Phillip Greenlief’s sax virtuosities enhance the entire number on an entirely new level. You’ll immediately notice hypnotic laid-back rhythmic sequences that direct the pace of Poison/Antidote from scratch to finish. In the meantime, the detailed warm-sounding basslines provide a perfect sonic background for catchy chord progressions, saxophone leads, and vocal arrangements. Davia’s exceptional vocal performance perfectly suits the song’s ambiance, and you’ll immediately notice sincerity and confidence in her voice. Her performance also delivers jazzy, funky, and soulful vibes to this number. Of course, Davia also thought about lyrics, and Poison/Antidote talks about how playing femme fatale never ends well, but it’s a hell of a ride along the way. There is no doubt Poison/Antidote will become your go-to track whenever you need more complex post-punk music decorated with brilliant ideas and exceptional musicianship. You should check out this track as soon as possible. Poison/Antidote is available on all streaming services.
