Contact Light – Burnout

Contact Light released a critically acclaimed debut full-length album last year, accompanied by many alternate versions of their singles, such as Paint, Glitter, Drown, and Arrow. Now they’re back with Burnout, another exceptional composition that deals with toxic relationships, ex-girlfriends, and fake friends. The band channels these themes by explaining how all these bad situations burnt them out, but eventually, they get over it and move on in a more positive direction. Soundwise, Burnout follows the footsteps of their debut full-length. However, it also showcases many innovations in songwriting, composing, and production. Perhaps Disconnect explored the fundamentals of indie sound to the max, but Burnout showcases some experimentations with complementary music genres like emo, indie-punk, and pop-punk. Of course, Contact Light thought about everything while incorporating these elements, so these additional styles serve as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details that define the best indie punk tracks.

Burnout has such a perfect indie-punk ambiance achieved by implementing arpeggiated chord progressions, catchy riffs, equally detailed low-end tones, and excellent rhythmic structures built upon moderate beats, breaks, fills, accentuations, and other percussive acrobatics. Still, the flawlessly performed vocal harmonies are the centerpiece of this outstanding track. You’ll notice how the singer handles low, mid, and high notes with such ease, and Burnout wouldn’t sound this good without him. Each band member is solely responsible for shaping such a mesmerizing sound that spans so many music genres but simultaneously stays loyal to indie punk. You’ll hear how the entire number resonates with excellent sonic maneuvers and rhythmic acrobatics that equally pay respect to contemporary and retro-sounding music.
