The Survival Code – We Are Just Fooling Ourselves

We Are Just Fooling Ourselves is the fourth single this year by The Survival Code, a powerful London-based rock duo. This composition serves as an appropriate continuation of The Heart Will Bleed, Never Knew You Existed, and For Right Or Wrong, For Better Or Worse, their previous works published in 2023. However, We Are Just Fooling Ourselves showcases fresh ideas and innovations in songwriting, composing, and producing. You’ll immediately notice a calm, soothing, nearly cathartic sound achieved by combining several complementary music genres together. The Survival Code aimed for a cathartic but also the anthemic ambiance that resonates with some of the finest properties of alternative, grunge, indie, emo, post-hardcore, and they ultimately nailed it. Some readers may think it’s way too many styles involved but don’t worry, The Survival Code know what they’re doing, and they’re doing it pretty well.

These folks invested some of the best ideas and exceptional musicianship you’ll hear on an contemporary alternative rock scene. The guitars burst with powerful, cleverly constructed riffs that define the melodic aspect of the song. Of course, a thick layer of low-end tones lurks right beneath the guitars and brings more density and clarity to those chord progressions. Nothing would sound so groovy without profoundly dynamic rhythmic sequences built upon well-accentuated beats, breaks, and drum fills. Dual lead vocal harmonies unquestionably contribute to that cathartic ambiance, and these singalongs are probably mostly notable during the catchy choruses. The Survival Code thoroughly planned every segment of We Are Just Fooling Ourselves, so this song provides many listening pleasures along the way. You should check out this track as soon as possible if you’re into perfectly executed alternative rock music because The Survival Code nailed it in all possible ways. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
