MOTE – Diamond Days

It has been a while since we had MOTE on our pages. I had a chance to interview this profoundly creative artist about a year ago and wrote a review about Industrial Love, one of his excellent singles released in 2022. Diamond Days is the latest composition by this Berlin-based artist that will unquestionably appeal to all the admirers of perfectly executed synth music. Perhaps MOTE explores all the vital elements of synthwave and synth-pop, but Diamond Days also showcases some of the finest properties borrowed from music genres like new wave, indie rock, indie pop, and other similar styles. MOTE thinks outside the box, so Diamond Days is not another regular synthwave/synth-pop composition you stumble upon on streaming platforms every day. Quite the contrary, this number shines bright with so many qualities that are maybe not traditional for these genres.

Of course, Diamond Days almost dominantly burst with the late seventies and all the way to late eighties vibes, but don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some sonic maneuvers that might resemble other eras of popular music. MOTE incorporated so many orchestrations into this song that it’s nearly impossible to grasp every idea and instrumentation in just one listening. Diamond Days carries the sound that meets all the trends in contemporary music production, so you’ll hear each detail with such ease. Besides continuous levitations between modern and retro ambiances, MOTE included heavy, robust, moderate electro beats that perfectly match soothing chord progressions, fuzzy basslines, synth leads, and vocal harmonies. Still, you’ll notice that MOTE’s outstanding vocal performance is a centerpiece of this composition, and it’s nearly mindblowing how each vocal segment suits catchy verses and choruses. Diamond Eyes sound mesmerizing from scratch to finish, and it’s one of those songs that will convince you to delve deep into MOTE’s discography. You’ll hold this song dearly on your playlist, and there’s no doubt in my mind it will stay at the top for months. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
