The Idle Silence – Dark Matter

After a recently released extended play called Frown, the UK-based quartet The Idle Silence is back with another exceptional composition that will unquestionably appeal to all the fans of grunge sound. However, The Idle Silence is more than just another grunge band. These folks continuously experiment with complementary music genres in order to achieve the desired sound. Therefore, you’ll stumble upon some of the finest properties of garage rock, alternative, indie, and many other similar styles. You’ll notice how The Idle Silence still rely upon the fundamentals of grunge music, while these beforementioned genres serve as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details that define some of the best rock songs.

Dark Matter bursts with a raw, abrasive, fuzzy, heavily distorted ambiance. However, you’ll hear each tone and beat delivered by these creative musicians, who know how to blend sheer distortion and melody into a colossal grunge piece without harming the aesthetics of both sides. The band combines detailed chord progressions and riffs to achieve a thick fuzzy layer capable of tearing your listening apparatus apart. However, it’s a pleasant distortion that improves the listening experience and uplifts this number on an entirely new level. The band capable of doing these combinations is a rarity nowadays, and The Idle Silence are such pros in combining all these elements. Also, you’ll notice powerful, warm-sounding low-end tones lurking right beneath the guitar channels. Still, they’re vividly hearable in the mix, and the sound engineer/producer did an outstanding job by blending these instruments together. Nothing would sound so energetic without profoundly dynamic rhythmic sequences based upon detailed beats, accentuations, and fills. The lead singer gives more depth to the song with all the interesting vocal harmonies that unquestionably improve the listening experience even more. The Idle Silence is an exceptional band, and Dark Matter is more than rock-solid proof of my statement. You should check out this track if you’re interested in contemporary grunge music. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
