Australian indie-rock trio Noon Shift released a new track a couple of days ago. It’s their seventh composition in a row from the series of singles launched in 2018 and the second track this year. Wake Up bursts with a slightly calmer ambiance compared to its predecessor, Do It All Again. This particular composition floats in calmy waters where the group incorporates some aesthetics of indie and dream pop while indie rock remains their primary sonic weapon. Still, you’ll probably notice how alternative and nineties rock-inspired these creative musicians to write, compose, and record such an incredible ballad that will suit your listening apparatus even if you’re not into these music genres.
Noon Shift explores the vast sonic universe built upon cleverly assembled chord progressions, melodies, and harmonies, performed on acoustic guitar. The bass guitar provides more than necessary low-end tones that unquestionably contribute to the heaviness and ambiance to this number. The snare drum is also hearable in the mix until the near end when the entire band transits into heavier, energetic, dynamic, alternative rock waters. The song becomes more complex but still soothing, relaxing, and cathartic due to the flawlessly performed vocal lines. Noon Shift represents one of the rare contemporary indie bands who know how to assemble excellent songs without sounding predictable and repetitious. Wake Up is available for listening on all streaming platforms.
