All American Rage: Joker’s Hand Released A Full-Length Album

Southern California’s Jokers Hand released their 8-song debut album ‘All-American Rage‘ on December 7.

The band says. ““All-American Rage” melds together a variety of genres, but at its core is a rock record with a message. It was born in a place where the rich feed off the poor and the armed terrorize the powerless. It’s about a time when fear divided the masses and rage was the national currency. Joker’s Hand examines rage across various cultural contexts. “Hibakusha” addresses the use and fallout of the atomic bombs in WW2. “Comfortable” takes aim at the one we hate the most—the lover of the one you used to love. The title track “All American Rage” is a poignant attack on the ever-growing gap between rich and poor.”

“Goth Girlfriend” was inspired by the strict upbringing of vocalist/guitarist Kevin Kawano, who explains: “I grew up in a conservative household where I wasn’t allowed to get tattoos, and talk of sex was forbidden. But deep down inside I always knew my heart craved darkness, so I got me a goth girlfriend.”

Hailing from Torrance, CA, the duo has been steadily amassing fans since their previous single “War Profiteer” took off on radio giant KROQ’s ‘Locals Only’ show, where the song spent weeks at #1.

A late-Summer appearance at Redondo Beach’s Beachlife Festival further cemented them as a band to keep tabs on, with their incendiary performance all but demanding attendees take notice.

Kawano met bandmate Matthew Lau and together they formed the band in 2017. After writing dozens of demos and carving a name for themselves on the Los Angeles club circuit, the band met with producers Steve Ornest and Wyn Davis at Total Access Recording Studios (Sublime, No Doubt, Guns N’ Roses). They began working on what would become their debut self-titled EP, which was released in March 2020.

The band’s debut single “Anthem,” landed in rotation on several FM radio stations throughout Southern California, while the follow up “Gold Rush” charted on KROQ’s Locals Only, reaching #1 and staying in the Top 5 for nine weeks straight. The next track “Hijacked” also took the #1 spot on the show.

Joker’s Hand songs are timeless, weaving multiple genres of music like pop, punk, and hip-hop into their rock-rooted sound. The band’s explosive live shows coupled with their ear-catching vocals and musicianship have catapulted them above the noise floor of the Los Angeles rock music scene.
