Birmingham, UK rock duo First Frontier recently released the first official single called Break Away. This number comes right after two demo songs that the group unleashed in 2020, and it demonstrates the excellent lyricism and musicianship of the duo. First Frontier decided to go with a garage rock approach for Break Away, but as is usually the case, there’s more than meets the eye. Perhaps this powerful number will be a treat to listening apparatus for garage rock fans, but it will also suit those listeners who appreciate any subgenre of rock music. First Frontier thought about everything while writing, composing, and producing this song, and the final result is more than ear-appealing.
Besides the garage rock aesthetics, First Frontier experiments with grunge, alternative, and indie rock. The dirtiness of the garage and grunge continuously clashes with polished alternative/indie sound. The guitars are raw, fuzzy, heavy, while the rhythm section is powerful and dynamic. Still, First Frontier shows off its mellow side through a decent amount of melodies. Break Away is perfectly balanced and offers all the best affinities of rock’n’roll music.
