There are hordes of immensely creative artists out there that are seeking the attention of the broader auditorium. Creative minds are continuously popping out from every possible direction by demonstrating brilliant ideas realized through tremendous musicianship. The best part about this phenomenon is that the quantity doesn’t exceed quality, so you cannot even choose your favorite artist because they’re all equally good. Aleph Trio stands out from the creative crowd with its brand new recording that will suit all curious ears who’re seeking a profoundly detailed post rock sound. Antonio Cece is a principal songwriter, composer, guitar player, or should I say, a mastermind behind this interesting trio. He decided to showcase his upgraded version of indie rock to the world by merging several genres altogether.

This group wouldn’t be complete without a stable rhythm section, so he invited more creative musicians such as Daniele de Santo (double bass) and Marco Fazzari (drums). These three experienced musicians joined forces together to deliver Promenade, their collaborative full-length material that carries seven sophisticated post rock numbers. However, this is not the first material derived by Antonio Cece, and he continuously changes lineups to deliver different aesthetics through his highly engaging music. Therefore, you can also check out recordings such as Soundscapes – Swunk, Da Baia A Bahia, Awakenings, and Space Even More Than Time. Nevertheless, there’s something special about Promenade that makes this particular recording one of his best works, so I will solely focus on this one today.

Promenade carries seven detailed post rock compositions adapted for guitars, double bass, and drums. This material resonates in such a specific manner mainly because of the non-traditional approach to the beforementioned genre. Besides heavy dosages of post rock, Aleph Trio explores other genres, such as experimental avant-garde, jazz, art-rock, alternative rock, indie rock, dream pop, cinematic ambient, and world music. Their sound is unquestionably unique, mainly because of the differences in performance comparing to the other contemporaries on the post rock scene. Aleph Trio dedicates equal shares of this material to each abovementioned genre without losing its consistency, quality, and dynamics. These three musicians merged all these elements but also preserved the true essence of an post rock sound.

You’ll notice how the experimental avant-garde keeps lurking around while the nearly echoic post rock melodies are defining the course of this material. The jazz dynamics are dictating the tempo and virtuosities, so Aleph Trio ranges between calmness and a more aggressive approach to the sound. Each composition includes calm melodic segments, ear-appealing experimental interruptions, and energetic closures, so it seems these tunes are acting as thoughtfully arranged stories. Each musician showcases brilliant ideas, tremendous experience, and impressive musicianship from scratch to finish, no matter if we’re talking about guitar virtuosities, intense double bass performance, or energetic rhythmic acrobatics. Aleph Trio shakes the boundaries of the post rock scene with their progressive jazz maneuvers, so you’ll love Promenade if those experimentations are up to your alley. Promenade is available streaming services such as Spotify, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, and YouTube, so give it a listen and decide for yourself.
