Main Primate – …For The Lamplighters CD

The alternative scene is getting stronger every day, with outstanding new artists popping out from every possible direction. It seems like this pandemic only strengthened their determination to continue writing, composing, recording, and producing quality music. Perhaps Main Primate is one of those brand new artists that unquestionably deserves your utmost attention, but the man behind this alternative rock project is an experienced musician with decades spent on stages and rehearsing rooms. HJM Duggie spent some time playing guitar with bands such as Lowlife and Foil and currently sings/plays guitar for Sons Of The Descent. His tremendous experience is vividly hearable at …For The Lamplighters, a debut material under his new moniker.

…For The Lamplighters carries eleven detailed alternative rock compositions, heavily decorated with accentuations borrowed from several other genres. HJM Duggie promoted this material over social media with singles such as Portobello, Super 8 Day, Settled Song (With You), and Bodysurfer. Besides heavy dosages of an alternative rock sound, you may hear some other elements that are unquestionably highlighting the music of Main Primate. HJM Duggie includes some impressive moves that are resembling mid-eighties to mid-nineties indie rock, modern power-pop, and alternative pop music. Still, his orchestrations are leaning towards contemporary alternative rock sound, which certainly resonates in a very special manner. These experimentations with different genres are creating a calmy, sophisticated, ear-appealing ambiance that may sound cathartic at particular moments.

HJM Duggie nurtures a nearly symphonized atmosphere during the entire album. He achieved this specific atmosphere by involving generous dosages of studio reverb, mainly layered over guitars. Still, additional servings of reverb are added to other instruments as well, but in smaller portions to enhance the listening experience. The remaining instruments are sounding equally incredible. It seems HJM Duggie paid attention to every aspect of his debut because this material appears as a beautiful contemporary alternative rock odyssey from start to finish. Each composition delivers an entirely different vibe, but the complete recording encapsulates the same cathartic aesthetics. For The Lamplighters acts as a comprehensive collection of sophisticated numbers, fully stacked with brilliant ideas and outstanding musicianship. You’ll entirely embrace the sonic beauty of this material and undoubtfully crave for more. For The Lamplighters comes on a compact disc, but it is also available on streaming services such as Spotify, Bandcamp, and Soundcloud.
