Cry Red – Everything And The Space In Between

There’s something about this band that keeps me pumped to dig deeper into their debut album. Maybe it’s because of the clever arrangements, subtle melodies, delicate notes, or song structures. Who knows, but one thing is for sure, their music deserves your uttermost attention if you’re profoundly into fully detailed indie rock. Cry Red is a relatively new British indie rock quintet with a couple of singles and an outstanding debut album meaningfully named Everything And The Space In Between. After countless hours spent digging deeper for some details about the band, I found nearly nothing, but my listening apparatus indicates that we’re dealing with experienced musicians who earned musical knowledge in previous groups. You’ll get the idea of what I am talking about when you spin their debut record, which shines bright on the spotlight with unquestionable quality.

I guess there’s a reasonable explanation why Cry Red are keeping their presence nearly incognito. Perhaps they’re playing on the surprise card because their music strikes hard in the most positive way. Their meaningful articulations are instantly getting into your ears, then into your head, and remain inside for a while. Still, the first impact is imminent and pleasant for sure. Everything And The Space In Between feature ten cleverly written, composed, arranged indie-rock numbers. However, their clever music unveils even more elements as this album proceeds. Besides indie rock, you may notice how indie pop, Brit-pop, alternative rock, rock, and soft rock affected their songwriting. Each number includes even more surprises than a preceding one, but Cry Red doesn’t stop there. The group explores every significant decade for pop-rock music, so you’ll hear everything from eighties indie-rock, over nineties alternative/indie rock and late nineties alternative rock to the contemporary indie-pop sound.

Cry Red pays equal amounts of attention to verses and choruses. You would expect some standard pop-rock arrangements like quieter verses and striking choruses, but this band emits equal amounts of power on each song. A gentle vibrato enclosed with the leading chants gives a unique vibe to arpeggiated chord progressions, while the perfectly produced basslines contribute to the overall listening experience with striking low-end tones. Exceptional drumming performance keeps the remaining portion of instruments in line with moderate rhythmic sequences, various accentuations, and drum fills. The keyboard contributes another layer of subtle ambiances, calmy tones, and more punchy high-pitched notes, depending on the moment or occasion. The entire group operates as a singular organism throughout the entire album.

Everything And The Space In Between represents a comprehensive amalgam of powerful indie pop-rock compositions, performed by experienced musicians who’re fully aware of their abilities. Their music showcases a well-balanced blend between retro and contemporary indie rock sound, pervaded by ear-appealing pop melodies. Everything And The Space In Between is available at streaming services, such as Spotify, Soundcloud, and YouTube.
