K-STE – Grünblau CD (Hicktown Records)

K-STE is a characteristic German hip-hop quartet that carries a lot of surprises along the way. The group lurks around the scene for quite some time by delivering quality tracks right to the table. Since 2016, K-STE released a self-titled EP recording with three compelling tunes and promoted their latest debut with a couple of singles such as Löwe Im Dschungel (2018) and Fetter Rapper (2019). Considering the quality of these recordings, K-STE is heading to imminent success. One thing is for sure, K-STE is going beyond generic hip-hop, and these musicians are considering every possible option to enhance their sound even more.

The highly intelligent lyrical content is what makes this specific hip-hop outlet so characteristic and distinctive in the vast sea of similar artists on the scene. K-STE incorporates socially conscious lyrics that are mocking contemporary society, criticizing the constant growth of consumerism, but also pointing out the finger at all the injustices across the globe through loads of sarcasm, irony, and good humor. The remaining portion of the band serves as a perfect musical background for these lyrics. However, the rest of the band burst with excellent musicianship and compelling dynamics that are keeping this album quite entertaining.

Musicwise, the group goes beyond contemporary hip-hop trends by implementing some other musical genres throughout the album. You may notice essential elements of ska, reggae, punk rock, electro, and pop that are popping out during the complete recording. However, completely dominant foundations of hip-hop are remaining as the main sound base at Grünblau. This incredible debut appears as a comprehensive amalgam of thoughtfully arranged compositions, enhanced by a full specter of diverse moments. Still, Grünblau sounds compact mainly because of the entertaining structures, brilliant arrangements, and professionally done production that keeps the complete album in line. Each instrument is equally hearable throughout the entire material, but the main focus remains on appealing vocals. Every segment is written, composed, and produced with so much sense, so you’ll have a great time while listening to this recording.

Grünblau comes in between old school and modern hip-hop, but it’s also decorated by loads of entertaining moments that are keeping this album even more listenable. It contains highly intelligent lyrical content that brings even more delightfulness to the consumers. This particular album will be especially interesting to hip-hop fans who’re looking out for skillfully performed music, mainly because of the diversity that this material offers. Grünblau is coming on a compact disc, housed in a digipak cardboard casing. The packaging also includes a booklet that carries all the lyrics and necessary info about the album. It’s available directly at Hicktown Records, but you can listen to it at all streaming services. Don’t miss this one out if you’re looking out for profoundly detailed hip-hop music.
