Perhaps their songs dominantly lean towards contemporary music, but you’ll also notice how they sometimes subtly levitate towards the eighties, nineties, and noughties sound. Therefore, these experimentations with many different but complementary styles will appeal not only to modern alternative rock fans but also to those picky music enthusiasts looking for cleverly assembled and flawlessly performed music.

From the onset, it becomes apparent that Joy and the Wildfire poured heart and soul into their debut album. Each composition arrives with a perfect structure, garnered with many profoundly detailed segments, brilliant ideas, and marvelous orchestrations. Each vocal, sonic, and rhythmic maneuver has its place and purpose in this sonic equation, making “Aftershocks” such an incredible album worth repeating over and over again. As soon as you press play, you’ll notice how soulful, passionate, sincere, confident, emotional, and powerful vocal performance serves as a centerpiece, elevating everything to new heights, commanding attention, and guiding the listening apparatus from scratch to finish with such precision and finesse. The impressive vocal range seamlessly balances between low, mid, and high notes while contributing emotional depth and complexity to an already intricate song structure. These vocal harmonies decorate each segment and instrumentation, emphasizing everything Joy and the Wildfire intended to achieve with their full-length debut. Literally, each song offers an impressive vocal performance, so this album is a pleasant listening experience worth repeating over and over again. In the meantime, the entire amalgam of impressive instrumentations lurk around, creating an ethereal and otherworldly atmosphere. You’ll immediately notice a cleverly constructed interplay between guitars and synths. These orchestrations also contribute intricacy to an already complex material, offering many delightful sonic acrobatics for those listeners mainly interested in progressive music. The comprehensive collection of catchy, memorable, engaging riffs, chord progressions, harmonies, melodies, themes, and leads delivered on guitar perfectly match all those majestic synth leads, themes, melodies, ambiances, and other sonic maneuvers. It’s nearly mindblowing how all those layers work together harmoniously without overwhelming each other. “Aftershocks,” “Shouldn’t I Be Older,” “Tears In Brooklyn,” “Consequence Of Time,” “Misunderstood,” “Paradise,” and “Back To You,” are just some of the perfect examples of how these instruments work together flawlessly, but you should pay attention to the entire album while listening “Aftershocks,” because Joy and the Wildfire fully stacked this material with many jaw-dropping orchestrations.

You’ll also hear some saxophone solos and accentuation throughout the album. These sonic acrobatics spice particular segments, adding more variety to this material. It’s such a nice addition that will unquestionably appeal to many listeners. “125th and Lennox,” “Lessons,” and “Back To You” exemplify how this particular instrument elevates everything to new heights, immediately transporting the listener to an entirely different realm. Of course, Joy and the Wildfire also thought about the rhyme section. You’ll hear how equally intricate, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines roar beneath all those instrumentations, providing more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth while binding guitars and synths with rhythmic patterns. These low-ends are deep, dense, rich, and heavy, contributing more power to these songs. In the meantime, the exceptional drumming performance based upon expertly arranged, flawlessly performed, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics keeps the remainder of orchestrations in line while dictating groove and pace. You’ll hear how each hit of the snare and kick of the bass drums cuts through the atmosphere, offering more than necessary dynamics. The rhythm section reigns supreme throughout the entire album, except those songs where Joy and the Wildfire explore a more calm, soothing, relaxing, ethereal, cinematic ambient side of the sonic spectrum. Each instrument has its place and purpose in this sonic equation, so if the guitars, synths, and saxophone act as a perfect backdrop for all the vocals to shine upon, then bass and beats serve as a backbone, holding everything together.

Joy and the Wildfire thought about everything while writing, composing, arranging, recording, and producing their debut album, so you can literally hear their experience, knowledge, creativity, talent, skills, and dedication to the craft. They poured heart and soul into this material, resulting in a memorable listening experience worth repeating over and over again. With their catchy, memorable, engaging song, they break all the rules and shapeshift the boundaries of so many different but complementary music genres, showcasing how alternative and indie music can still sound fresh, unique, innovative, versatile, exciting, and entertaining. Therefore, you should place this gem on your music radar. “Aftershocks” is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
