“Ya Lil, Ya Sbleen” moves between the call of the night and a diffuse sense of melancholy. Sbleen, a sonic variation on spleen, evokes a suspended state in which one can wander without moving forward, feeling elsewhere while remaining on one’s own path.
As throughout the rest of the album, Club Cactus develops a stripped-back approach, free of unnecessary elements. Textures, silences, and frictions become sound matter, allowing tension to emerge gradually and each element to find its own place.
