TOWN LIAR Release “Lies: One Through Seven” On Vinyl

Town Liar is one of those bands that makes perfect sense once you know who’s involved. But even without the impressive list of former and current bands attached to their names, Lies: One Through Seven stands firmly on its own.

Town Liar’s lineup brings together Benny Horowitz (The Gaslight Anthem, Antarctigo Vespucci), Nick Remondelli (None More Black, The Break In Mile), Heath Saraceno (Midtown, Senses Fail) and Jason Shevchuk (Kid Dynamite, None More Black). Four musicians with decades of history in punk and alternative music — and, more importantly, four old friends who genuinely enjoy making music together.

The story goes back to New Jersey in the mid-’90s, when Shevchuk and Remondelli first played together in the vegan straight-edge hardcore band Bound. They crossed paths again in The Break In Mile, before Shevchuk went on to form Kid Dynamite and later None More Black. Remondelli would briefly join None More Black, appearing on the band’s demo that eventually helped land them a deal with Fat Wreck Chords.

Years later, the two found their way back to each other once again. While working on his solo project Former Member, Shevchuk reached out to Remondelli about starting a new band. After experimenting with several drummers, longtime friend and The Gaslight Anthem drummer Benny Horowitz was brought into the fold.

What started with song sketches and demos being passed back and forth between Jason, Nick and Benny slowly developed into something much more substantial. Heath Saraceno entered the picture after reconnecting with Remondelli, initially through a mutual obsession with guitars. Although best known as a guitarist, Saraceno took on bass duties — and quickly became the missing piece.

The result is TOWN LIAR.

Recorded piecemeal between busy schedules and built around shared ideas, emails, demos and the occasional opportunity to get everyone in the same room, Lies: One Through Seven is remarkably cohesive. 

It’s melodic without being polished, catchy without becoming predictable, and unmistakably rooted in the New Jersey punk tradition.

Originally released digitally a while ago, Lies: One Through Seven has until now been available exclusively through Bandcamp.

Not Sorry Records is now bringing the album to vinyl for the first time, with a limited pressing of just 300 copies.

And there is no shortage of enthusiasm behind it. As guitarist Nick Remondelli puts it: “The best part of Town Liar is making music with some of the greatest friends I have had in my life and, obviously, amazing musicians. It is inspiring and amazing.”
