Thunder Bae Explores Beauty, Brutality, And Power Of Modern Womanhood On Debut Album “A Woman”

Emerging artist, producer, and songwriter THUNDER BAE has released her debut album, A WOMAN, available now through Cleopatra Records. Entirely written and co-produced by THUNDER BAE alongside longtime collaborator Etienne Baret, the 14-track collection is a fearless examination of identity, desire, heartbreak, power, and self-discovery—an emotionally charged debut that refuses to fit neatly into any one genre.

Raised in Düsseldorf—the city that introduced the world to Kraftwerk and forever changed the relationship between humanity and technology—THUNDER BAE has quickly established herself as one of Europe’s most compelling new voices. Blending electronic music, indie rock, alternative pop, and trap into a sound that is equally cinematic and intimate, she places songwriting at the center of everything she creates.

At its heart, A WOMAN chronicles the emotional landscape of modern womanhood. Across songs that move effortlessly from vulnerable piano ballads to gothic art-pop, baroque flourishes, and dark electronic production, THUNDER BAE explores love, sexuality, shame, ambition, heartbreak, and the complicated process of becoming comfortable in one’s own skin.

Rather than presenting femininity as an ideal to achieve, A WOMAN embraces its contradictions. The record celebrates strength found not through perfection, but through experience—finding confidence in vulnerability and power in authenticity. The album’s title intentionally strips away every qualifier often attached to women, reducing the idea to its simplest and most powerful form: A WOMAN.

The album’s musical range reflects that emotional complexity. The title track strips everything back to expose raw vulnerability, while songs like “Oh My Sword” lean into theatrical grandeur and “Godswork” delivers razor-sharp trap-pop commentary on power, performance, and autonomy. Throughout the record, THUNDER BAE writes about reclaiming agency in relationships, challenging expectations placed upon women, and discovering the freedom that comes from no longer needing external validation.

“I don’t think in genres,” THUNDER BAE recently explained. “I don’t think anyone really does. When we feel something, it moves us—either inside or physically.”

That philosophy extends throughout A WOMAN, a record that treats genre as a palette rather than a boundary. Sonically, THUNDER BAE occupies a space somewhere between Kate Bush, The Weeknd, and Cocteau Twins while creating a sound unmistakably her own—equal parts ethereal, visceral, and emotionally direct.

Alongside the album, THUNDER BAE has unveiled the striking video for “Mercybeggingboys,” filmed in Malibu, California. The visual serves as both a personal reckoning and symbolic rebirth.

“This video captures a moment of emotional cleansing: washing off the pain my past left on me, leaving behind the version of myself that begged to be chosen, understood or forgiven, and stepping into a new era with more power, clarity and self-possession.”

Another standout from the album, “Gay Alice In Wonderland,” twists familiar fairy tale imagery into an exploration of queer identity, longing, escape, and transformation, demonstrating THUNDER BAE’s gift for pairing surreal storytelling with deeply personal themes.

Alongside her solo work, THUNDER BAE recently became the lead vocalist for the legendary synth-pop pioneers Propaganda. Their collaboration resulted in the band’s acclaimed 2024 album before continuing with a series of 2025 remix releases from artists including Moby, Rhys Fulber (Delerium), Jimi Tenor, and others, further introducing THUNDER BAE’s distinctive voice to audiences across the electronic and alternative music worlds.

Following early momentum online and performances at iconic Los Angeles venues including The Viper Room and Bar Sinister, THUNDER BAE continues to bring A WOMAN to audiences with a series of upcoming performances across Germany, while additional live dates, music videos, and the forthcoming singles “Goodnight” and “7 Figures” are also on the horizon.
