Philadelphia singer-songwriter Maxwell Stern has released his new single “Stay Close To Me” via Lauren Records. Best known as frontman of Ohio’s Signals Midwest, Stern blends buzzing guitars and heartfelt lyricism into what he calls a “love song for novices.” Written after a half-dreamt melody, the track channels Stern’s knack for earnest storytelling wrapped in raw indie-rock textures. Following solo records Impossible Sum (2020) and In the Good Light (2024), “Stay Close To Me” shows Stern leaning further into tenderness, reflection, and emotional clarity while keeping the spirit that defines his band’s catalog.
