San Diego indie veterans Manganista are back with their energetic new single, “Talking to Myself.” The track transforms the constant noise of modern life and our hidden internal monologues into a New Wave-infused rock anthem, blending pulsing synths, sharp guitars, stacked vocals, and brassy sax hooks from John Roy (Smoke & Mirrors Sound System). The result recalls quirky icons like Oingo Boingo and Devo while carving out a sound that feels fresh, theatrical, and instantly relatable.
Formed over 20 years ago, Manganista have built a cult following with their genre-blurring mix of rock, ska, and New Wave. Known for their high-energy live shows, they’ve shared stages with Flock of Seagulls, The Aggrolites, and When in Rome, while performing at San Diego staples like The Casbah and Belly Up Tavern. “Talking to Myself” marks the band’s latest chapter, a catchy, offbeat reflection on mental clutter and everyday madness.
