Melodic Punk Rock Unit For Closure Drop Title Track From Upcoming EP “Take Two” Out September 12

Los Angeles melodic punk outfit For Closure returns this fall with Take Two, a concise yet powerful three-song EP arriving September 12, 2025 on Mindpower Records. The release follows their acclaimed 2024 debut full-length Cliffside Serenades and offers a snapshot of a band both sharpening its songwriting and celebrating its influences.

Produced by Michael Rozon—a longtime For Closure collaborator whose credits include work with Ministry, Jerry Cantrell, MelvinsThe Jesus Lizard, and more—Take Two features two compelling original tracks and a reimagined cover of Canadian punk legends Doughboys’ 1989 classic “In My Head.”

The title track, out as a single August 15, sets the tone with its cinematic concept and heartfelt punk hooks. “‘Take Two’ is a story about two people who find each other, but as in the movies, one takes this bond as sacred and meaningful, while the other is just in it for what they can get,” explains vocalist Gizz Lazlo“Once that trust is broken you shouldn’t go back or let them back in. Life and love shouldn’t be like a movie—because in the end, there’s no ‘Take Two.’”

Following the Doughboys cover, the EP closes with “Welcome Me Home,” a somber, piano-driven piece that shows a different side of the quintet’s dynamic range.

“I was happy to be able to contribute to the recording of ‘Take Two’ and ‘In My Head’ this time around, since I joined the band just after Cliffside Serenades was recorded,” says guitarist Marc Maxey“Working with Michael Rozon was super fun—he had great suggestions for guitar parts I never would have thought of myself.”

For Closure—rounded out by bassist Steve Brown, drummer Wal Rashidi, and guitarist Luis Estefania—has kept a busy live schedule, including their first West Coast tour in spring 2025. This August, they head east for their debut East Coast dates while beginning work on their sophomore full-length.

“Our West Coast tour was a total blast,” Maxey adds. “Nine shows in nine days, old friends, new friends, and only one truly brutal overnight drive from San Francisco to Seattle. I can’t wait for the East Coast run next month.”
