Alternative rock artist SAOL has dropped her second single, “Skeletons”, set to hit all major streaming platforms on August 8th, 2025. Built on lush guitar textures and emotionally charged verses, the track erupts into an anthemic chorus that channels the raw energy of grunge icons like Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins, fused with the dreamy, immersive soundscapes of shoegaze pioneers such as My Bloody Valentine.
“Skeletons explores dealing with feelings of depletion and fear following the end of a relationship. Specifically the symptoms of social anxiety that often come with this. Essentially, I had a relationship with someone I really loved, and it got pretty fucked up. We all go back to a place in our minds from time to time and reel with anxiety when we think about things that happened there right? Skeletons invites the listener into my little reeling world. I hope it makes your head spin as much as it does mine. It’s an awful pang, but there’s an element of catharsis that comes with it!” – says Gough
“Skeletons” showcases SAOL’s genre-bending mastery, weaving between soaring shoegaze atmospheres and heavier grunge riffs without losing its melodic edge. The result is a track that resonates with listeners across generations.
Formerly of Dublin alt-pop outfit Dreaming of Jupiter, Zoë Gough, now recording as SAOL, uses her music to explore Irish identity, social issues, mental health, and sexuality, drawing deeply from Ireland’s folklore and history.
