Slumber Released New Song ‘1993 (Shake It)’

London six-piece Slumber are back with their new single ‘1993 (Shake It)’, out May 23rd. Swapping the indie sleaze sparkle of their debut ‘Julian Casablancas (I Wanna Rock A Pair Like)’ for something messier, louder, and leaning harder into the distortion. ‘1993 (Shake It)’ is a pseudo-nostalgic, shake-what-you-wish-you-had ode to an era that probably wasn’t as glamorous as hazy fantasies let them believe.

Dragging itself through a fog of feedback and blown-out saturated vocals, ‘1993 (Shake It)’ is all hips, hooks, and heavy distortion. The anxieties of trying to impress the cool kids have been left at the door, and Slumber sounds sexier, more explosive, and just self-aware enough to get away with it.

“It would feel a little silly to over-explain ‘1993 (Shake It)’. I suppose what we had in mind was the fun but strange way everyone romanticises eras they weren’t actually there for. I have no idea if people shook their booties in 1993, but I’m gonna pretend they did.”

Having already caught the ears of BBC Introducing, So Young, Boogaloo Radio, and Spin Magazine with their debut release, Slumber are proving they’re more than just a good jeans reference. They’ve played to packed-out rooms with two sold-out shows at Sebright Arms and The George Tavern, just come off the back of their 2nd ‘Slumber Party’ Soho club night, and amassed enough Polaroids and hangovers to start a museum exhibit.
