After launching in October 2024, the London based alternative metal shoegaze tinged duo Cult(ure) have returned in 2025 with the release of their 3rd single ‘Wither’, following their well received previous singles ‘Rebound’ & ‘Embers’ out via Alaskan Records.

“‘Wither’ was the second track Owen & I wrote. Such as previous songs, it came together very quickly. In this case on a rainy afternoon in Owen’s London studio.

Lyrically, I wrote this about my first partner and how I never felt good enough in our relationship. Even after we broke up he was shocked, I couldn’t quite understand as I never felt like he actually liked me.

The song reflects my frustration with the whole duration of our time together. ‘Wither’ is a song for those who have felt unappreciated.”

Guitarist & Songwriter Owen Hughes-Holland comments on the video;

“We felt given the subject matter it made sense to have a set full of flowers, which ultimately wither over time – they became the perfect metaphor for the song. Working alongside LA based videographer Guthrie Melchiade we were able to capture the grainy vintage style aesthetic that we had in mind”

Cult(ure) hail from Scotland & London, and consist of vocal dynamo Dyane Crutcher (ex-Syre) and songwriter / guitarist Owen Hughes-Holland (Defences, First Signs Of Frost) After a chance meeting in 2022 through a mutual friend, and shared love of bands such as Deftones, Tool and Sleep Token, the two soon found themselves fluidly writing their unique blend of styles from the get go. Whilst on a creative roll during the writing process of their debut material, the newly formed duo found themselves in the throes of personal tragedy, with the loss of an immediate family member and a serious relationship ending. In the wake of these dark times they would go on to write their most raw, honest and heart-felt collection of songs to date.
