Pure Hex Released “Five Of Tears” EP

Bay Area shoegaze band Pure Hex is thrilled to share its new EP ‘Five of Tears,’ out everywhere Friday, February  28. The second half of their double LP rollout, ‘Five of Tears’ is darker and heavier than their previous release, ‘Spilling.’ The songs take you through themes of nightmares, anger, grief, and acceptance, and ultimately bring you back to the realization that you never leave an experience with nothing.

The band decided to release ‘Spilling’ and ‘Five of Tears’ in two parts to experiment with how music is currently marketed and consumed today. Pure Hex decided to “play the game” and put it out as a double LP to ensure all the songs got their moment in an industry heavily focused on singles over full albums.

“This record is rooted in the concept of duality, specifically in the things that are illuminated through loss and change,” says lead vocalist Marta Alvarez. “As the world we live in gets increasingly tumultuous, this idea gets even more relevant. Hopefully, these songs can serve as a reminder that, in times of great change, there will always be something to hold on to that cannot be taken away.”

Born in San Francisco’s DIY music scene, Pure Hex is a 5-piece band conjured up from their own spellbinding take on alternative rock and 90s grunge nostalgia. Reminiscent of Deftones, The Smashing Pumpkins and Mazzy Star, Pure Hex hits you hard with swirling guitars and colossal drums and keep you drawn in with dreamy, haunting vocals.
