Spare skin is a post-punk band from Paris, France.
The spirit is resolutely punk, DIY and feminist. The music takes playful routes through contemporary punk, drawing equally on the vocal intonations of P.J. Harvey, the energy of Amyl and the Sniffers, and the 90s tone of Title Fight.
Rhythms are sometimes heavy and deconstructed, sometimes dancey. They support vocals and guitars that never abandon melody, but can break without warning in noisy irruptions.
Every song is an outlet for anger, injustice and violence. Every concert is a place of cathartic joy and sharing.
Founded in Paris, the group played its first concerts with Mary Bell (Cirque Electrique) and Smile (Supersonic), then kicked off a french Tour after the release of its first E.P. in january 2025.
Spare Skin recorded their eponymous debut E.P. in the spring of 2024. It was released on January 20, 2025.
It was recorded by Anne-Lise Assada at Ventre de la Baleine (Pantin – 93), mixed by Baptiste Bucaille and mastered by Florent Sicard / Bad Bean Mastering.
Comprising five tracks, it explores all facets of the band, from the abrasive post-punk single Keep Calm to the pop ballad Past, via more progressive pieces like Your Name.
The lyrics evoke both the injunctions received and the violence endured, as well as the way to break free from them in a liberating joy and anger.
After a sold out release party at the Péniche Antipode in Paris, Spare Skin will tour Bordeaux, Hossegor, Cahors, Toulouse, Marseille, Paris, Rennes and Nantes in February
