Coming from “Hard Times,” their third full-length album released this year, it vividly showcases what you might expect from the remainder of the album. Therefore, this song and the entire full-length release will unquestionably appeal to anyone who appreciates cleverly assembled and flawlessly performed music. Lyrically, “Two Glass Eyes” is a song about falling for someone and feeling an obsessive protectiveness over them. The band explores themes such as love, relationships, different sentiments, moods, situations, and circumstances, making a highly relatable composition that will immediately resonate with the broader auditorium. Sonically, perhaps alternative rock comes to mind, but you’ll undoubtedly stumble upon some of the finest properties borrowed from indie rock, garage, and post-punk. Their music expertly levitates between nostalgic eighties and nineties music and modern sound, so it will definitely suit even the pickiest music enthusiasts. They use all these additional sonic ingredients as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details to elevate his music to new heights while simultaneously remaining loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, these experimentations with different but complementary music genres resulted in a catchy, memorable, engaging track that will immediately become a staple on your playlist.

They expertly construct a calm, soothing, relaxing, ethereal ambiance that immediately transports you into another realm. Damien Goyenechea’s vocal performance reigns supreme in the mix, elevating everything to an entirely new level, commanding attention, and guiding the listening apparatus from scratch to finish with precision and finesse. His voice seamlessly glides over low, mid, and high notes, emphasizing everything he intended to achieve with this song while decorating each segment and instrumentation. In the meantime, Cameron Stevens guitar works gradually build an atmosphere that immediately grabs you by the collar and refuses to let go long after the song ends. The interplay between rhyme and lead guitars creates that ethereal, otherwordly, reverby sound so rich with some of the finest ideas you’ll hear in a while. You’ll notice how tastefully assembled chord progressions and riffs resonate on one side while the other shines with beautiful and memorable themes, melodies, harmonies, and other sonic maneuvers.

This composition wouldn’t sound this good without a rock-solid rhythm section. You’ll hear how all those intricate, audible, warm-sounding low-ends roar beneath the guitar layers, providing more than necessary heftiness, clearness, and deepness while blending all those orchestrations with drums. Nikkoli Kade’s basslines are luxuriant, warm, dense, deep, and heavy, contributing more power to this song. Of course, Garrett Henritz’s exceptional drumming performance based upon expertly arranged, flawlessly performed, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics keep the remainder of the instrumentations in line while dictating groove and tempo. By assembling the entire composition so expertly, Breaks proves he’s a clever, wise songwriter and musician who is capable of delivering catchy, memorable, engaging tunes that immediately transport you into another dimension. Their music transcends space and time, tackles all the senses, evokes nostalgia, and breaks all the rules of so many music genres at once. Breaks is an incredible music outlet that you should immediately place on your music radar. “Two Glass Eyes” is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
