VELIKA VELIKA – Trust

Trust” is the latest release by VELIKA VELIKA, a music outlet led by an outstanding English musician Benjamin Joel Davies. Arriving as an adequate continuation of “COMING.GOING.,” a marvelous single released in 2024, it’s his first piece of work this year that will undoubtedly appeal to anyone looking for tastefully assembled and flawlessly performed music. It’s also good to mention that this composition is part of the recently released EP of the same name. Lyrically, it’s a song about trust, joy, and the freedom to throw yourself into life without fear, all inspired by the chaotic, loving friendship of a dog and his three-times-bigger best mate. Soundwise, VELIKA VELIKA follows a formula heard on his previous recordings. He combines some of the finest properties of indie rock and indie pop music, but don’t be surprised if you stumble upon other similar music genres like synth rock, alternative pop, art pop, and power pop. Like in his previous works, he uses all these additional sonic ingredients as enhancements while remaining loyal to the primary sonic direction. His music continuously levitates between modern sound and early noughties nostalgia, making “Trust” such a memorable composition that will unquestionably appeal to even the pickiest music enthusiasts.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice that VELIKA VELIKA poured heart and soul into this track. Each vocal, sonic, and rhythmic maneuver has its place and purpose in this sonic equation, creating such a calm, soothing, engaging yet energetic, danceable atmosphere. “Trust” arrives with a perfect structure, adorned with many profoundly intricate segments, brilliant ideas, and marvelous instrumentations. The guitar interplays between several carefully incorporated layers, creating a perfect backdrop for all the vocals to shine upon. You’ll notice how a comprehensive collection built upon catchy, jangly, tastefully distorted, arpeggiated chord progressions, harmonies, melodies, themes, and other sonic delicacies lurk around without overwhelming each other. These guitar layers provide enough rawness, abrasiveness, and grit yet they’re immensely melodic and harmonious. There’s a jangly, angular quality to these guitar works but a decent amount of distortion lurks along the way. VELIKA VELIKA is known for his impressive guitar sound that immediately grabs you by the collar and refuses to let go long after the song ends, and “Trust” exemplifies his dedication to the craft. In the meantime, his passionate, sincere, confident, emotional, and powerful vocal performance serves as a centerpiece, commanding attention while guiding the listening apparatus through each segment of the song. His impressive vocal range seamlessly balances between low, mid, and high notes, blending entirely into the soundscapes. These vocals guide listeners through VELIKA VELIKA’s expansive sonic universe while simultaneously everything this profoundly creative artist intended to achieve with his track. Also, it’s nearly mindblowing how the guitars match vocals harmoniously, making “Trust” such a pleasant listening experience worth repeating over and over again.

Of course, “Trust” would sound so groovy and energetic without the impressive rhythm section. You’ll notice how equally intricate, audible, warm-sounding bass lines rumble beneath all those guitar works, providing more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth while binding all those orchestrations with rhythmic patterns. These low-ends are luxuriant, dense, and heavy, contributing more power to the composition. In the meantime expertly arranged, flawlessly programmed, well-accentuated beats, breaks, and fills keep everything in line while dictating groove and tempo. They perfectly articulate with bass guitar, creating an immensely effective, and powerful core of the song. There are also subtle synth accentuations included along the way. They act as a powerful enhancement that flawlessly matches guitar works and overall ambiance. VELIKA VELIKA thought about even the tiniest details and nuances, so if guitars and synths shape a perfect backdrop for all the marvelous vocals to shine upon, then the bass and drums serve as a backbone, holding everything together. VELIKA VELIKA proves once again that he’s a master of his craft. He has all the necessary tools of trade to write, compose, arrange, record, and produce exceptional indie compositions that will immediately resonate with the crowd. With all those marvelous vocal harmonies, incredible orchestrations, and powerful beats, “Trust” stands out from anything you could hear on the contemporary indie scene. Therefore, you should immediately place this fascinating song on your listening radar. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
