Monobloc Released New Single “Take Me”

New York City’s Monobloc return today with the expansive “Take Me”, with frontman Tim Waldron having the following to say about their new single and last release of a breakthrough 2024:

“Musically, “Take Me” was written around the time we were exploring the whole Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound method—massive sounding songs that aren’t just drenched in reverb but more so well placed illusion. We wanted a song for a room we’re not yet big enough to play. A goal post. Lyrically, I wanted a confession from someone knowingly drinking the Kool-Aid: “Take me where you want me. I want to be your fool.” The song transitions from desperate shouts into the void to a laid-back, tongue-in-cheek croon.

“Take Me” is our boot-up sequence. It’s the sound of a band finding its footing and setting off on its journey. This is the song we always imagined would be listeners’ first introduction to the project, though reality chose a different path. However for a handful of listeners it will be.”

The visualiser for “Take Me” was shot in both New York City and across the world, with live footage of the group taken from a whirlwind twelve months at home and abroad, self-directed by the band.

The band’s previous three singles, “Where is My Garden”, “I’m Just Trying To Love You” and “Irish Goodbye”, all presented a band arriving fully-formed, pushing the envelope with forward-thinking guitar arrangements and widescreen melodies. These debut songs were lauded by press internationally, including a digital cover at Dork and support from NME, Rolling Stone UK, DIY, So Young and more.

Monobloc has made a splash on the global stage with many shows this year, including performances at All Points East, Rock En Seine, supporting Interpol, and sold-out headlining shows in New York City, London and Manchester. The momentum continues this winter with an appearance and Japanese debut at rockin’onsonic, appearing live alongside Weezer, Death Cab for Cutie, The Lemon Twigs, Jesus and Mary Chain and many more.

MONOBLOC LIVE

JANUARY

5th – rockinʼonsonic – Chiba, Japan

Soaring out of the underground of New York City’s booming DIY scene, Monobloc, helmed by vocalist Timothy Waldron and Michael Silverglade on bass, is an exciting new project formed by two friends with a shared ear for merging pop sensibilities, with a distinctly metropolis post-punk attitude.

Creators of the viral Minecraft music festival Block by Blockwest, Waldron and Silverglade were inspired to form Monobloc as a way to fully refine their sound without limits.

Completed by Zack Pockrose on drums, and guitarists Ben Scofield and Nina Lüders, Monobloc’s strengths lie in their innate gift of storytelling; pairing texturally rich, visceral and emotional detail, with a minimalist instrumentation that sits as confidently alongside some of NYC’s artistic greats, as it does in its own lane entirely.
