Like the best of early 80’s LA punk bands that inspired them, Slaughterhouse definitely has something to scream about.  Regarding the single, singer Meriel O’Connell considers “Sick and Tired” it a more personal song, remarking, “You get a lot of people talking in your ear about what you should do, say, look like, how you should behave…I don’t think we’re put on this planet to try to make everyone happy or feel comfortable.”

Sick and Tired, the record the single appears on, is the band’s first EP for Pirates Press Records, after having previously released a split 7″ with Guadalajara, MX’s like-minded Flores y Fuego via the label.

With 5 brand new tracks of early 80’s-inspired LA hardcore/death rock for the masses, Slaughterhouse are setting the tone for 2025 right out of the gate with what will no doubt be a fixture on best of the year lists.

After a raucous 2024, Slaughterhouse wasted no time getting back in the studio with producer Cameron Webb (MotörheadAlkaline TrioPennywise) to give the people more of what they’ve been clamoring for: big plans, big sounds, big screams…and this EP is the just the start of what they have in store for the new year! Never one to rest on their laurels, Slaughterhouse continue to set the scene afire and prove to everyone what those who’ve seen them live already know: this band is the real deal, and they can more than hold their own on any stage, with any line up.

If 4 new original songs weren’t enough, this EP features a blistering cover of Black Flag’s “My War.” True to their LA roots and sound, Slaughterhouse rips through this legendary punk classic with a version that should make Rollins proud, while at the same time making it wholly their own. For fans of Slaughterhouse, this is what you’ve been waiting for. If you’ve seen them live in the past year, you already know what’s coming. If you haven’t had the privilege yet, this is your starting point. If this EP is, as the band puts it, “the tip of the iceberg creatively,” we can’t wait to hear what’s next!

Pre-orders for Sick and Tired are underway now via the PPR webstore for the EP, pressed on a one-sided 12″ Black Vinyl record with an etched B-side. It will also be available for pre-order via Bandcamp this Friday December 06 (Bandcamp Friday). The EP will be available everywhere on Friday, February 07, 2025!

Slaughterhouse blaze their own trail forward while hearkening back to a period in the early 80s when hardcore punk and gothic post-punk created an unholy union known as deathrock, with Los Angeles as one of its epicenters. Fans of genre legends like Christian DeathTSOL, and 45 Grave will not want to miss out! Their furiously energetic live shows have made them an in-demand act both at their own gigs and supporting an impressive and diverse roster of punk rock greats, including Bad ReligionDescendentsPennywiseSocial Distortion, and many more!
