Shagreen is the solo, post-industrial project of Natalia Gadzina—a vocalist, composer, lyricist, and music producer. Her music is compared to the later works of Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails. However, beyond industrial, her albums feature references to many of her other inspirations from genres like synth-pop, trip-hop, and dark wave.
Shagreen‘s new album, “Almost Gone”, is the third in her discography. The record is a story that completely changes life, ideals, beliefs, and the value system.
“”Almost Gone” is a tale of loss, mourning, and loneliness. About being on the edge of worlds and the trauma that won’t let you sleep. About the paralyzing longing for something you didn’t have the chance to know but has already taken a real form.”, says Shagreen about her album.
Each track on “Almost Gone” is another stage in the return to a functioning that could be called “normal”. Wounds don’t revert; they can only heal over. However, we have influence over how we utilize difficult experiences in the future and who we become because of them. The culmination of this story is peace and acceptance, because even a broken person can become stronger.
Shagreen is a solo artist who independently writes, records, produces, and mixes her songs. Her tracks have frequently been featured not only on alternative but also on national radio stations.
The mastering of the album “Almost Gone” was done by Erie Loch, known for his collaboration with bands like Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly, and he was responsible for all of Shagreen‘s previous releases.
Shagreen‘s music combines gritty electronics, guitar riffs recorded by Arek Grochowski, and catchy, melodic choruses.
