Playful Slovenian indie-rock trio Lelee presents new album ‘Mora malo u crveno’, which was released today, on Friday, November 8, 2024, by the local label Moonlee Records. The album was released in digital format, as well as on CD and vinyl, with a noteworthy ‘limited edition’ on red vinyl in a limited run of 100 copies. The visual design of the album was created by Leon Zuodar – Lele.

Since its formation in 2020, the trans-Balkan trio Lelee, consisting of Jelena Rusjan (vocals, bass), Damjan Manevski (vocals, guitar) and Leon Stoilković (drums), has established itself as one of the key protagonists of the regional indie scene. The band has captivated audiences with its uplifting, playful and youthful expression – a blend of Yugoslav new wave aesthetics, indie-via-slacker rock sensibilities of the 90s, the ethos of modern-day indie mavericks revisiting the past for inspiration and a sprinkle of Adriatic temperament. Full of verve and drive, Lelee songs are characterized by hooky refrains and melodies that become ingrained in your skull and follow you long after.

With their sophomore album ‘Mora malo u crveno’ (in english ‘It needs to go a little into red’) Lelee are now entering their mature period, driven by a desire to serve up indie masterpieces based on original songwriting with emotional resonance. It is a gorgeous example of modern indie vitalism. Recorded live in one take, it finely captures the band’s stage presence with its organic sound image. Permeated by joie de vivre, the album functions as a remedy to today’s doom and gloom. It is imbued with hope, sincerity and collective enthusiasm. The trio employ a wide range of geographically and historically diverse guitar expressions, striking a fine balance between inventive arrangements and all-out rocking.

Album was recorded and mixed by Robi Bulešić at BearTracks Studio in Kočevje in Slovenia. Mastering was done by Carl Saff. On the tracks Snaga, Nestaješ, and Rane, Blaž Gracar features on keyboards, while on the track Životinje the English musician and producer Alastair McNeill plays the keyboards as a guest.

On new album Lelee passionately follow the credo presented in the album title, which could be roughly interpreted as ‘you gotta do stuff to the fullest’. Sometimes it is just necessary to give it your all, “redline” your energy levels, push yourself to the limit and reach the breaking point. To go beyond the limits of what is possible, step out of your comfort zone and climb the self-imposed barricades of your mind.

Lelee tour dates:

16.11.2024 @ Postojna, Zinko Tiček – Špecialka! (SI)

23.11.2024 @ Rijeka, Klub Palach (HR)

29.11.2024 @ Ljubljana, Gala Hala (SI)
