Post-punk group Magic Wands is back with a new song called “Armour,” released on October 18th.

The LA-based duo has continuously defied genre since the groups inception in 2008. Vocalists Chris and Dexy Valentine are known for their unique, often dreamy but undefinable sound – often incorporating elements of gothic post punk, dark dream pop, textured guitars, droning synths, and ethereal vocals to create an otherworldly atmosphere.

Dexy says, “‘Armour’ came about spontaneously as all our songs do. It’s a reflection on the human paradox, a need for protection and an equally strong desire for connection and freedom.”

Magic Wands is a band that is dedicated to creating music that is both imaginative and  emotionally-engaging. They have built a dedicated following of fans who are drawn to their unique sound and the shroud of mystery that surrounds them.

“The song explores the two forces and looks to find a balance between shielding oneself and embracing vulnerability. We’re writing  songs for our new album due out spring of next year. We felt Armour was special and a good follow up to our most recent single Hide released last July.”

Last year in May Magic Wands released a new album called Switch, which is a departure from their previous sound and style. The album has far less pop qualities and is more experimental and introspective. The upcoming record will be a continuation of Switch, but a bit more uptempo and minimal. Now, THIS is their fully realized sound.
