Chicago noise rock band Big’n unveils “End Transmission,” second single off End Comes Too Soon, their upcoming third album due for release on Computer Students™ on November 15th, 2024.
Big’n, the iconic Chicago-based noise rock band formed in 1990, is set to release End Comes Too Soon, their first album in 28 years. The lineup includes vocalist William Akins, guitarist Todd Johnson, bassist Fred Popolo, and drummer Brian Wnukowski.
After releasing a stellar debut album in 1994, a split single with Shellac in 1995 followed by their sophomore and signature effort Discipline Through Sound in 1996 on Skingraft Records, the band became inactive for some years. They returned in 2010 with a compilation and an EP, and they have since released two records : The EP Knife of Sin in 2018 and DTS 25, an extended reissue of their second album in 2022. Both were recorded by the late, great Steve Albini and released by NYC label Computer Students™.
The new album, End Comes Too Soon, features the band’s trademark sound at its peak, featuring powerful drumming, intricate bass lines, clangorous guitars and Akins’ distinctive vocals. It was recorded by Shane Hochstetler at Electrical Audio and is dedicated to Albini’s legacy.
Today, Big’n releases the single “End Transmission,” the album’s 12th song on the tracklist and this is what they have to say about it : “We are always transmitting signals. From everything to the tone of our voice or the look on our face. These Transmissions will ripple throughout eternity, like waves through outer space. Be aware of your Transmissions. Beware what you wish. The End Will Come Too Soon.”
End Comes Too Soon will be available in multiple formats: a standard edition, a deluxe edition in aluminum packaging with a massive double-side poster, and digitally.
