“Vertige Noir” is the first single taken from Catastrophes, the debut album by Paris based band CREVE COEUR, due for release digitally via Atypeek Music on November 8, 2024.
At the intersection of Chicago noise rock and 90’s post-hardcore tinged with Slintian-powered post-rock ascents, CREVE COEUR deploys its jerky dissonances punctuated by the half-detached, half-threatening vocals of a psychologically unstable Corentin Sarkadi.
Fans of METZ, Sonic Youth, Gilla Band, and DITZ will not be disoriented by the 5-minute twists and turns of this firecracker, oscillating between frontal violence and periods of quiet frozen in space, all captured live by outstanding sound engineer Youri Benaïs.
CREVE COEUR is first and foremost a group of five musicians that have a clear musical chemistry, with live performances being a key component of the band from the start. So it seemed only right that they should first present themselves with a live session, reminiscent of KEXP or Live From The Basement.
“Vertige Noir” was filmed and recorded in studio in May 2024, among two other tracks. The video was directed by Guillaume Quincy, while Youri Benaïs handled sound recording and mixing.
