Lucca BellForge Again Records and Fight Dice are excited to announce the release of Total Party Kill, the Milwaukee-based Dungeons & Dragons-inspired collective’s debut album composed of musicians from veteran indie outfits such as Braid, Hey Mercedes, The Promise Ring, Maritime and more. A fantastical music project that merges heavy sounds with the epic narratives of your favorite role-playing game, Total Party Kill is influenced by the band’s love of Nineties rock. Think Man’s Ruin Records and Amphetamine Reptile; a chug punk, metal and post-hardcore blend with a love of D&D worn pridefully on its armored sleeve. Stream and purchase Total Party Kill on all platforms HERE.
“During the pandemic, we were immersed in playing ‘D&D’ together online to ward off boredom and stay socially connected,” bassist Todd Bell recalls. “When we could see each other more regularly and safely, as friends, we began practicing as a makeshift ‘band’ — another outlet to stay sane while all other remnants of being in our other bands were still on hold.”
Bell continues, “We set about working on some musical parts we all had lying around, and the next thing you know we were all in a drop D tuning sludging along, having fun with our new project. Satisfied with what we were doing and with loads of ‘D&D’-inspired content for band direction and lyrics, we booked a show when it was okay to do so, settled on a name, and Fight Dice was officially born.” Watch the music video for “Attack The Drider” on YouTube HERE.
Be transported to another realm with Milwaukee’s Fight Dice, an otherworldly music cooperative formed in 2022 whose members — Jay Gilkay (Evel), Todd Bell (Braid, Hey Mercedes), Dan Didier (The Promise Ring, Maritime), Brett Schwandt (Evel, Ceilishrine) and Eric Arsnow (Tigernite, Devils Teeth) — capture the raw energy of combat, mythical creatures and heroic adventure on its debut showcase, Total Party Kill (Forge Again Records). A 26-minute experience of neo-stoner and noise punk that is a nod to the total elimination of a questing group in D&D — or how the band’s music might impact a modern-day social event — Total Party Kill is an anxious blend of heaviness and dissonance that serves as the perfect backdrop for epic battles and lively parties. All hail Fight Dice!
