Kelsey Montanez – Kick The Habit

Chicago-based singer-songwriter Kelsey Montanez returns with another fine piece of sonic artistry that will unquestionably appeal to those listeners looking for catchy, memorable, engaging modern rock songs. Armed with brilliant ideas and a knack for writing, composing, arranging, and producing music that easily gets into the ears, Montanez delivers another colossal slab built upon exceptional vocal maneuvers, excellent riffs, and heavy rhythmic patterns. “Kick The Habit” is a perfect example of modern rock music done right. However, there are many more or less hearable additional elements included along the way that make this mesmerizing sonic journey even more enjoyable. Perhaps Kelsey Montanez relies upon the fundamentals of modern rock music, but you’ll also stumble upon the finest properties of alternative, garage, indie, art-rock, and rock ‘n’ roll. Her music continuously levitates between the late eighties, nineties, and noughties while remaining loyal to the modern sonic maneuvers. These experimentations with so many different but complementary styles and elements define her sound, making “Kick the Habit” such an ear-appealing piece worth repeating over and over again.

Her magnificent voice serves as a centerpiece, guiding listeners and commanding attention from beginning to end. Her vocal harmonies grab you by the collar and refuse to let go even after the song ends. The impressive vocal range seamlessly balances low, mid, and high notes, emphasizing all the segments and instrumentations while the passionate, charismatic sincere, confident, and powerful stage presence gives more depth and detail to a song. In the meantime, the interplay between rhythm and lead guitars shapes a rich and luxurious sonic backdrop for all the vocal maneuvers to shine upon. The comprehensive collection of arpeggiated and regular chord progressions, catchy riffs, subtle melodies, and marvelous harmonies creates a lush, hypnotic, addictive atmosphere. Kelsey Montanez thoroughly planned each guitar maneuver, so you’ll notice how verses arrive with calm, soothing, relaxing, ethereal chord progressions while the verses deliver heavy riffs. Also, it’s nearly mindblowing how vocal harmonies match guitars harmoniously from scratch to finish.

Of course, there’s an entire amalgam of complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding low-ends roaring beneath guitar layers, offering more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth while binding all the instrumentations together. The excellent rhythmic patterns based upon delicate, moderate, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics keep the remainder of the orchestrations in line while dictating groove and tempo. The rhythm section plays a crucial role just as the guitars do. Each instrumentation is solely responsible for such rich and luxurious sound, continuously floating in the air. Kelsey Montanez proves once again why she’s one of the best singer-songwriters on the modern scene. With her outstanding songwriting and composing abilities, impressive vocal range, catchy chord progressions and riffs, powerful low-ends, and dynamic rhythmic sequences, she positions herself as a clever artist who deserves utmost attention from the broader auditorium. “Kick The Habit” is a modern alternative rock masterpiece that will become your go-to track whenever you need cleverly assembled and flawlessly performed music. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
