Kwolek – Some Evenings

Kwolek returns with another fine piece of sonic artistry that will appeal to those looking for cleverly assembled and flawlessly performed rock music. It’s his third piece of work in 2024, after “Ronnie Stole This Riff + Kim Is Desperate” and “Cemetary Days,” two excellent singles released earlier this year. For those who missed my previous writing about this artist, Kwolek combines various rock subgenres to achieve a lush ambiance where brilliant ideas and exceptional musicianship collide. Perhaps alternative rock comes to mind first, but don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some of the finest properties borrowed from grunge, art rock, nineties rock, indie rock, post-punk, etc. He wisely implemented all these additional elements without removing the primary base from the sonic equation. Anyone even remotely into songwriting and composing knows that’s not an easy task to achieve, but Kwolek smoothly assembled everything like a pro. Therefore, “Some Evenings” will appeal to anyone looking for excellent alt-rock music with many additional sonic ingredients included along the way.

“Some Evenings” is such a fresh and unique take on so many music genres at once. As soon as you press play, you’ll hear how this marvelous track has a perfect structure, garnered with many detailed segments and exceptional orchestrations. Each instrument shines in the mix and shapes such an otherwordly ambiance. Kwolek skillfully balances between calm, soothing, relaxing, ethereal segments and much more heavily distorted, heavy, powerful moments. These continuous levitations allow him to showcase his impressive vocal range. You’ll hear how his voice transits into whispers during those calm moments, while those aggressive sections carry a perfect balance between low, mid, and high notes. These vocal harmonies command attention and guide the listener on this ear-appealing sonic journey simultaneously, so a pleasant listening experience is more than guaranteed.

Kwolek showcases his musical abilities by incorporating the catchy, memorable, irresistible interplay between rhythm and lead guitar. You’ll hear how the cleverly assembled riffs and chord progressions resonate on one side while the other shines with marvelous themes, melodies, and harmonies. These orchestrations paint a perfect sonic backdrop for all the vocals to shine upon but are also solely responsible for such a cathartic ambiance, omnipresent from scratch to finish. In the meantime, the low-ends immensely support all these orchestrations with tastefully arranged basslines. This particular musical instrument gives more than necessary heaviness, power, clarity, and depth to the song while binding all the instrumentations with the rhythmic support. Kwolek also thought about the drums here, so you’ll notice flawlessly created and performed beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics, directing groove and pace while binding everything together. “Some Evenings” sounds divine from the beginning to the end, thanks to Kwolek’s creativity, talent, and ability to breathe fresh air into those longevous music genres. He fully stacked his latest singles with some of the finest qualities borrowed from alternative, grunge, indie, and post-punk, resulting in a mesmerizing song that will immediately end up on your playlist. Therefore, check it out as soon as possible. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
